Hi, Jenn here!

I'm a senior at Brown University studying Computer Science and International and Public Affairs with an interest in tech policy and human-centered computing.

My research spans the fields of algorithmic fairness, human-robot interaction, and computational social choice, where I see computing both as a formalizer to social issues and a rebuttal to policy interventions.

Check out my projects!

Here are some cool things I've worked on

Paragon Policy Fellowship

The Paragon fellowship is an opportunity for students to explore and gain experience working on science and tech policy issues in their state and local governments.

VoteKit

VoteKit, nicknamed “a Swiss army knife for social choice research”, is a Python package for researchers to study any stage of the ranked-choice voting election process.

End-User Robot Program

The End-User Robot Program is a project under the RLAB to study ways non-experts can interact with reinforcement learning systems through different programming paradigms in a visual interface.

Robotic Teaching Interface

The Robot Teaching Interface is a research project at NIST, to which I added reinforcement learning algorithm support so that goals can be given to the robot arm to perform pick-and-place tasks.

Where is Jenn?

Here are some cool places I've worked at

Research Intern

Brookings Institute
Upcoming: 01/2024

Policy Intern

White House Office of Science and Technology Policy
09/2023 - 12/2023

I provided Deputy U.S. Chief Technology Officer and policy leads of OSTP’s Tech and Policy divisions with operational support to advance major policy initiatives, including the Executive Order on AI.

Civic Digital Fellow

U.S. Census Bureau
09/2023-12/2023

I analyzed the contributions of 10+ federal data sources to race and ethnicity records and imputed over 1.5 million values by integrating additional surveys to a person-level demographic database.

Impact Analytics Intern

Rhode Island State Government
09/2022-12/2022

I supported a slate of economic recovery programs under the RI Rebounds initiative, a $32 million effort to assist small businesses during Covid-19, through data cleaning, aggregation and analysis, metrics tracking, and project workflow management.

Software Engineering Intern

Microsoft Corporation
06/2022-08/2022

I worked on the Billing team at Azure Storage to create a C# job that validates metrics across the billing pipeline. My project closed the validation coverage gap for almost 4 million transactions per tenant.

Research Assistant

National Institute of Standards and Technology
01/2022-05/2022

I worked under the Collaborative Robotics Laboratory at NIST to add machine learning support to a robot teaching interface. I implemented Q-learning and R-max algorithms for the robot to learn to move a block of a certain color.
